Project Description
The Gemini project is a fully consented offshore wind farm, to be established 55 km north of the island of Schiermonnikoog, in the Dutch North Sea. The 600 MW wind farm will be built in the North Sea and comprises 150 turbines, each with a 4 MW capacity. The wind turbine generators will be installed on monopile foundations and connected to two offshore transformer platforms, from which two sets of 100 km offshore cable will export the power to the onshore public grid, owned by TenneT.

The wind farm is expected to be fully operational in 2017.

Latest Developments
The project reached financial close in May this year.

Mott MacDonald, the lenders’ technical adviser and engineer on the project, will provide construction and operational monitoring services as the project develops, having previously delivered due diligence that led to financial close. Siemens Energy will deliver 150 wind turbines for the offshore wind power plant. This includes a 15-year service and maintenance agreement.
