Company Announcement - “But this only applies to certain sectors,” says Paul Byrne, MD of CareerJunction. According to CareerJunction’s latest salary review, which is based on actual salary offerings on the website, these salary disparities are mainly felt by professionals in Engineering; Finance; Admin, Office & Support; Warehousing & Logistics and Manufacturing & Assembly.

“All salaries provided in the report are average salaries, however once you start looking at regional disparities it becomes clear that professionals in Gauteng are higher earners than those in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. While there may be various reasons behind these differences in remuneration, there is evidence of higher demand for various skill sets within Gauteng”, says Byrne.

Comparing salaries from 6-12 months ago, salary offerings for skilled labour within the Construction Planning and Building field increased by an average of 13%. This rings particularly true for Architects who earn at least 20% more compared to 6 months ago; as well as Artisans, who can expect salaries up to 15% higher. Salaries also continue to increase within the field of IT while Finance professionals can expect slightly lower offerings (except for those in Underwriting).

Taking a deeper peek into the salary review which shows the average salaries for over 100 jobs across 10 sectors in South Africa, best paid employees, it seems, are those in ICT, Finance and Engineering with many salaries stretching to over R45,000 monthly. On the other end of the spectrum, professionals in the fields of Admin, Office & Support, Design, Media & Arts, Manufacturing & Assembly and Warehousing & Logistics are the lowest earners, with some salaries starting as low as R5,600 per month.
