The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport has introduced an additional feature on its PotholeFixGP app to also report faulty traffic signals.

Launched in 2022, the app was designed to enable the public to report potholes on the provincial road network.

More than 7 400 potholes have since been reported through the app.

Motorists are now also able to report faulty traffic signals on roads throughout the province.

The added function is intended to enhance user experience and improve service delivery in Gauteng.

The app can provide a status update of the traffic signal and potholes ranging from reported to assigned, and completed. It further allows for checking and verifying whether a reported traffic signal or pothole is on a municipal, provincial or national road.

Gauteng Transport and Logistics MEC Kedibone Diale-Tlabela is encouraging the public to make use of the application.

“We are encouraged by the rising numbers of downloads. The department further urges Gauteng residents to download the app and report road maintenance issues that need attention.”

The MEC states that the information is important as it provides the department with insight into maintenance challenges on the province’s roads and assists with better planning in terms of resource deployment.
