The forest fire currently active near the Springpole Gold project, in Ontario, has been classified as ‘under control’, but explorer First Mining Gold says that it has not been able to resume drilling programmes yet.

The fire has not caused any damage to the infrastructure or equipment at Springpole, the company reports.

In the past week, First Mining staff and consultants have remobilsied to the site and are doing limited work related to environmental data collection, geological logging and sampling work, as well as maintenance work on drills and equipment on site.

Drilling work and work outside the Springpole camp will only resume once the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry lifts the emergency area order, instituted on July 21.
