FluidSafe™ Fluorescent Additive Impresses at Health and Safety for Mining Forum

FluidSafe™ fluorescent additive, a new product from Alerton International that helps detect hydraulic fluid injection injuries, created quite a buzz at the recent Health and Safety for Mining Forum. The meeting took place May 21-22 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in Toronto, Canada.
Timothy R. Ley, the Director of Global Sales for Alerton International, sponsored a cocktail reception and addressed an audience filled with senior health and safety people from the mining industry on the benefits of this ground-breaking product. He related some real-life hydraulic injection experiences at an Australian mine and how the lack of more stringent safety regulations led to the invention of FluidSafe.
FluidSafe is a unique, specially formulated fluorescent additive that helps prevent hydraulic fluid injection injuries, which could prove fatal if not treated promptly. FluidSafe also aids in the detection and surgical removal of hydraulic fluid in the event of an accidental fluid injection that penetrates the skin. When viewed under high-intensity blue light (450 nm), its fluorescent green glow pinpoints the injection injury track quickly and accurately, determines exactly how serious the injury is, and even lets EMS personnel confirm at the mine site whether skin penetration actually occurred. Another benefit of FluidSafe is that it detects leaks in hoses, fittings, seals and other components that have degenerated over time. This avoids potential injection accidents, equipment downtime and hydraulic fluid waste, saving the mining industry valuable time and money.
FluidSafe successfully piqued the interest of many a participant as they gathered around Tim Ley and Jon Cooper, President of Alerton International, to exchange business cards, collect brochures and obtain answers to their questions.
