Project Description
The project will transfer about 30 Gℓ/y of water from the Fitzroy river to the GAWB’s existing water infrastructure at Yarwun.
The project includes:
- a 115-km-long, 1-m-diameter underground pipeline from Laurel Bank to Yarwun;
- an intake and pumpstation on the Fitzroy river at Laurel Bank;
- a water treatment plant, reservoir and pumpstation at Alton Downs;
- a booster pumpstation and reservoir at Raglan; and
- a reservoir at Aldoga.
Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create more than 400 jobs at the peak of construction.
Capital Expenditure
A$983-million.
Planned Start/End Date
The pipeline is expected to be delivered in 2026.
Latest Developments
The Queensland government approved the pipeline for construction in February 2023.
