JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Base metals miner Flinders Resources has plated the first copper at the recently commissioned 25 000 t/y copper cathode solvent extraction electrowinning (SX-EW) plant of the Wetar project in Indonesia.

The expansion project would add to the already operating 3 000 t/y SX-EW plant, lifting production to 28 000 t/y.

“In what has been a very tight construction schedule, it is very pleasing to be able to announce the plating of first copper at the 25 000 t/y SX-EW plant,” commented MD Barry Cahill.

Flinders is the operator of the Wetar project (72% interest) and the Ojolali gold/silver project (72% interest), which is also located in Indonesia.
