Name of the Project
Fécamp Offshore Wind Farm.

Location
The project is located in the eastern part of La Manche (the English Channel), off the coast of Haute-Normandie, in France, about 13 km north-west of the town of Fécamp.

Project Owner/s
Éolien Maritime France (EMF), a consortium comprising EDF Renouvelables France SAS and Enbridge, along with wpd offshore.

Project Description
The 497 MW wind farm will consist of seventy-one 154-7.0 MW direct-drive wind turbine generators, which will be installed on gravity-based foundations.

The wind farm is expected to provide enough electricity for up to 770 000 people a year.

The project is expected to offset about two-million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year and is underpinned by a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Potential Job Creation
The construction of the project will create more than 1 400 local jobs. During its 25-year service life, about 100 local ongoing full-time jobs, based at the Port of Fécamp, will also be created to maintain the wind farm.

Capital Expenditure
The project is estimated at €2-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
The project started construction in June.

Construction of the first offshore works is scheduled to start in early 2022, with completion expected at the end of 2023.

Latest Developments
None stated.

Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (turbines); Bouygues Construction, plus Saipem and Boskalis (foundations); and Chantiers de l’Atlantique, plus GE Grid Solutions and SDI (offshore substation).
