JSE-listed Esorfranki expected to post lower earnings for the six months to August, but emphasised that the civil engineering and construction group’s work on hand and future pipeline remained healthy.

Basic earnings a share for the interim period under review would be 94% to 96% lower than the 12.6c apiece achieved during the previous corresponding period, while headline earnings a share were expected to be 99% lower than the 7.8c recorded during the interim period the year before.

However, Esorfranki indicated a cautious optimism as it boasted an outstanding order book in excess of R2.2-billion and imminent pending awards of about R1-billion.

The group would release its half-year results on November 29.
