Wastewater conveyance and treatment company Erwat has appointed Tumelo Gopane as its new MD.

“It is a privilege to be part of an organisation that delivers high-quality services and innovative solutions to its clients and that continuously pursues excellence in the water sector,” he said.

Erwat provides bulk wastewater conveyance and treatment to 2 000 industries and more than 3.5-million people, mainly in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng.

The company has 19 wastewater treatment works treating a combined capacity of some 700-million litres of wastewater a day.

Before joining Erwat, Gopane was deputy municipal manager of infrastructure and technical services at the uMhlathuze local municipality and also has years of experience in the private sector.

“I have a passion for research and development and for innovative methods to improve operations. Despite the huge water and sanitation challenges that South Africa is facing, I am convinced that we have the skills and expertise to serve our communities and industries and to play a leading role in the water sector as well as the preservation of our precious environment,” he says.
