EOH achieves Level 2 BBBEE rating
Technology outsourcing and managed services company EOH improved its broad-based black economic-empowerment (BBBEE) rating from Large Enterprise Level 3 to Large Enterprise Level 2 contributor, the company reported on Wednesday.
This upgrade was the result of a black ownership percentage of 34.62%, with 60% of the board comprising black members and a 59% black employment equity score.
The company further reported a BEE procurement recognition record of some 156%.
"We view this achievement as positive, both for the economic growth of the country and the upliftment of previously disadvantaged people. Economic stability is critical to South Africa and EOH believes that companies in South Africa must contribute to our economy over and above the normal course of doing business," EOH human resources director Pumeza Bam said in a statement.
The company said it recognised that one of the principal challenges facing South Africa was youth unemployment and EOH had, as a result, launched the EOH Job Creation Initiative aimed at engaging its blue-chip customers, business partners and government to develop interventions that stimulated job creation.
"EOH has recruited 620 learners and interns, which account for some 15% of our permanent workforce and which we believe will impact on South Africa’s youth unemployment problem," Bam added.
The technology market was growing and, with its outsourcing, cloud services and application skills, EOH saw itself continuing to expand, while developing a substantial skills base, said the company.
