The Johannesburg International MotorShow (JIMS) opens its doors to the public from October 18th until Sunday, November 26th at the Nasrec south of Joburg, hosting South Africa’s biggest motoring extravaganza.
At the Engen stand, lauded as one of the show’s star attractions this year, esteemed Sasha Martinengo, a renowned petrolhead, unveiled the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 racing car, which was shipped over from the UK especially for the event.
Also on display will be the Audi Extreme 5W40 production race car. The Engen Extreme 5W40 has won South Africa’s Fastest Production Car for two consecutive years – 2011 and 2012. Michael Stephen, driver of the winning car, will sign autographs for the public during the last weekend of the show.
Lewis Hamilton,Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Racing car driver and PETRONAS Syntium brand ambassador, will be there in spirit if not physically, but icons of the star will be seen around – just for that special photograph. Hamilton is a universally recognised icon of modern Formula 1 and is admired in South Africa.
Great products
“But great performance goes beyond just great cars and products, extending to innovative products powering their performance” says Jason Heath, product strategist for PETRONAS Lubricants International.
All around the dual-themed stand will include packs of lubricating oils, bearing the names that appear on the cars courtesy of the Engen and PETRONAS sponsorships. In addition the public will be first in line to witness the launch of the Syntium range of top-end synthetic lubricants, comprising five products.
Another product on show is Engen’s Xtreme 5W40. Heath says the Xtreme 5W40 brand, appearing on the side of the production car, is Engen’s flagship product for high-performance engines.
The stand has cutting-edge projection mapping of images onto cars – lending movement, dimension and drama to an event already packed with adrenalin.
“We would love the public to spend time at our stand and share in the excitement.”
