Engen opens top-quality Biltong Bar
Engen, South Africa’s Favourite Petrol Station brand*, has taken convenience a step further with the launch of a new premium brand, Butcher’s Best Biltong Bar. Offering customers a range of freshly cut, high-quality biltong, it is available in various flavours as well as in sticks, snap sticks and prepacks.
The first Butcher’s Best Biltong Bar piloted in November 2014 at the Engen Vineyard Convenience Centre in Newlands, Cape Town. Phase 2 of the rollout will see Engen taking the concept to four additional Engen service stations, which will be announced at a later date.
“Engen is excited to partner with Butcher’s Best Biltong Bar on this innovative taste journey. The Biltong Bar experience is memorable in that it evokes the look, feel and smell of a traditional butcher and biltong shop. Our biltong is of the highest quality, and fully Halal. Our supplier, Takis Biltong, is one of the largest biltong manufacturers in South Africa,” says Dumisani Bengu, retail business manager at Engen.”
Butcher’s Best Biltong Bar will operate 24 hours per day with a served offering from 7am till 9pm. This means that a dedicated staff member will be on hand between these times to assist customers. From 9pm until 7am, pre-packed biltong will be available at the counter.
The biltong bar offers customers a range of spices so that they can customise the flavour of their biltong according to their own taste. Flavours include BBQ, Chilli, Lemon, Chutney and Sweet Chilli.
Bengu says, “Feedback from our customers has also been very positive, especially around the friendly service and quality of the biltong”.
“What matters to our customers, matters to Engen. That is why we are constantly seeking new innovations that bring them added convenience. Butcher’s Best Biltong Bar is yet another way in which we are trying to make their lives easier,” added Bengu.
