Lithium developer and technology firm E2 Lithium has started operations at its newly commissioned lithium extraction (DLE) field pilot plant, in Alberta.

The data collected throughout the pilot operations will be used to inform the commercial design of the processing facility for the prefeasibility and feasibility studies of its Clearwater project.

“The start of full operations is testament to the hard work the team has been putting in to get this equipment running,” comments E3 president and CEO Chris Doornbos.

E3’s goal is to produce high-purity, battery-grade lithium products to power the growing electrical revolution. The company has a total of 16-million tonnes of lithium carbonate-equivalent (LCE) measured and indicated and 0.9-million tonnes LCE inferred mineral resources in Alberta.

The preliminary economic assessment for the Clearwater project demonstrates an after-tax net present value, using an 8% discount, of $820-million with a 27% internal rate of return.
