Bose Aviation and Century Avionics have stepped in to assist South African National Parks pilots to communicate better with ground crews by donating 34 Bose A20 aviation headsets to the Kruger National Park.

Kruger National Park communications and marketing GM Ike Phaahla said the donation would assist in improving communication between aviators and ground crews during conservation operations.

“We are grateful to Bose for the donation as it will enhance communication when the teams are in the field whether on anti-poaching operations or conservation missions. These headphones are highly regarded by aviators as they cut off outside noise and help with clear communication for pilots.

“The resources used in the operation of protecting animals are pricey and we are glad that there are institutions who share the same sentiment and are going the extra mile. The Kruger National Park has seen a great improvement in the early detection of poachers and protecting rhino by including technology in its anti-poaching strategy,” he added.

“We are pleased to hand the headsets over to a unit that will use them to their fullest capacity and save our species for future generations," Clinton Farla said on behalf of Century Avionics.

His words were echoed by Garmir da Costa from Bose Aviation, who emphasised that the quality of the headsets would make the job a lot easier for the pilots while on duty. “The headsets are very comfortable and the quality of sound is very clear, which makes it easier for the pilot and passengers to communicate while carrying out their duties.”
