Project Description
The project will produce petrochemical products using ethane extracted from the Marcellus and Utica shale formations, in the US, to produce ethylene, high-density polyethylene, high-purity ethylene oxide and mono-ethylene glycol.

The project scope includes an ethane cracker with a capacity of one-million million tons a year, a high-density polyethylene unit, an ethylene oxide ethylene glycol unit, as well as associated off-sites and utilities.

Duration
PTTGC is expected to make a final investment decision in 2016 or 2017. Should the project move forward, construction of the ethane cracker facility would take an estimated three-and-a-half years to complete.

JGC Corporation, in partnership with Bechtel and Samsung Engineering, has received a letter of intent from PTTGC America to deliver front-end engineering and design (Feed) services for the petrochemicals complex.
