PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Lithium miner Pilbara Minerals has temporarily suspended operations at its Pilgangoora operation, in the Pilbara, after a death occurred earlier on Monday.

The company said that the death was as a result of an incident between personnel at the Pilgangoora project, and was unrelated to mining operations.

The Western Australian Police on Monday said that a man in his 40s had been found deceased, and that another, aged in his 30s was currently in custody and was assisting with the investigation.

“I am extremely shocked and saddened by what has occurred today. At this difficult time, our focus is on ensuring that our people are cared for and supported while we continue to support the police investigation that is currently under way,” said Pilbara MD Ken Brinsden.
