Project Description
The De Aar development is part of a larger plan to deliver 25 solar farms on 50 000 ha in the Northern and Western Cape provinces. The initial project was selected along with 27 other wind and solar projects, following the first bidding round under South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme.
The proposed De Aar PV solar plant will have a maximum generating capacity of 75 MW and incorporate one-million thin-film solar panels.
The PV panels will convert solar rays directly into electricity that will be fed into the national grid.
The panels have no moving parts or emissions and are quick to install.
