Project Description
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and BMW Group South Africa are supporting the South African government in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Improvements will include upgrading the Soshanguve Combined Clinic, near BMW SA’s Rosslyn manufacturing plant, in Gauteng, to a Covid-19 testing and screening centre.
The company has also provided a fully equipped ambulance and cars for transporting patients to the various hospitals in the region.
About 320 000 medical-grade N95 masks will also be brought to South Africa.
At the Dr George Mukhari Hospital, in Soshanguve, the accident and emergency facilities will be significantly upgraded and 300 beds added.
An additional 300 beds will be added across the region, with a further 150-bed overflow facility to be provided in Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng, bringing the total of additional beds to 750.
Four community clinics in Soshanguve will be provided with face masks, disinfectant and other personal protection equipment.
