South African copper company Copper 360 has published an updated trading statement for the financial year ended February 28, informing shareholders that it is likely to report a 54% to 58% year-on-year narrowing in its basic loss a share to between 18.97c and 20.97c.

Its headline loss a share is also expected to narrow by between 40% and 45% year-on-year to between 18.49c and 20.44c.

Copper 360 attributes the narrowing in its losses mainly to the prior financial year having included a non-recurring impairment of about R113-million on the solvent extraction and electrowinning plant.

The company will publish its financial results on May 29.
