Contractor appointed at Bellevue, early work starts
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold developer Bellevue Gold has appointed underground mining contractor GBF Mining and Industrial Services to complete Stage 1 of its Bellevue gold project, in Western Australia.
The company on Thursday said that the appointment of a mining contractor paved the way for portal firing and mechanised re-entry to start this month.
GBF would re-establish the existing decline for mechanised use at Bellevue, which will also enable the contractor to construct underground drilling platforms, which will accelerate the infill drilling programme to reduce costs associated with drilling the resource.
MD Steve Parsons told shareholders that the decision to start early works at the project was part of the company’s strategy to push ahead with the development of the Bellevue project in parallel with the exploration and resource growth programmes.
“We are advancing early-stage development work such as preliminary surface infrastructure and the decline in parallel with mining studies and exploration because that will maximise our ability to create value for shareholders as quickly as possible.
“Our strategy is aimed at capitalising on the strong gold price by starting production as soon as commercially and technically possible, while at the same time, continuing to grow and upgrade the resource. We believe that combination will deliver the most upside for Bellevue shareholders in the shortest time.”
Bellevue recently reported a maiden indicated resource of 860 000 oz, at 11.6 g/t gold at its namesake project, which forms part of the global 2.3-million-ounce resource, at 10 g/t gold.
