JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed Village Main Reef said on Tuesday that production had resumed at its Consolidated Murchison (ConsMurch) antimony/gold mine in Limpopo, where workers downed tools in an unprotected strike last week.

The company stated that both the Monday night shift and the Tuesday day shift were well attended and that it would build up production to prestrike levels during the next two weeks.

The industrial action, which started over workers demanding either a lump sum payout from an employee share trust or a dividend payment as participants in the trust, had cost Village R10.5-million in lost revenue. Employees had lost a total of R2-million in wages.
