Company Announcement: NSW Mining announced as naming rights sponsor for Skills on Show
As students across the Hunter return to their studies this week, NSW Mining has increased its support for Skills on Show to support jobs in the region and provide potential mining employees with pathways into a career in the industry. NSW Mining has backed the exhibition at the Newcastle Regional Show for the last three years and will be naming rights sponsor for 2013. As part of this commitment, the NSW Minerals Council will operate an interactive information hub including displays and career information and with industry representatives on hand to answer questions. NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee said that the mining industry would continue to provide exciting employment opportunities for the people of the Hunter for decades to come.
“It doesn’t matter whether you’re a student, a young person, or simply seeking a career change, NSW Mining is an exciting and challenging industry to be a part of.
“NSW Miners have the opportunity to live and work in great communities like Newcastle, Cessnock, Maitland, Singleton and Muswellbrook. It’s a career that can keep you in the Hunter, or take you around the world. “Be it working with big machinery like dump trucks and excavators, scientific work and environmental management, or complex engineering or geological challenges, NSW mining has a range of roles to suit many different interests. The NSW Mining centre at Skills on Show will have specialist mining equipment on display as well as for the first time, a dedicated “In Conversation With” speakers hub, where visitors will be able hear directly from senior industry and education representatives. “Our support for Skills on Show is in addition to our dedicated NSW Mining Scholarships, which provide a number of eligible students across NSW with a grant for up to three years if they study a minerals related degree or course.”
