The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has appointed John Rowe as Secretary General and member of its Executive Board. He is replacing Pascal Payet‐Gaspard, who stepped down at the end of 2012. John was formerly CEO of the ThyssenKrupp Group, as well as Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment. John has made his career in metals and minerals, including working in the stainless steel industry for the last 30 years. From 1991 to 2003, he was Director of International Sales and Marketing at Middelburg Steel and Alloys, during which time he was also a member of the Executive Boards of the South African Stainless Steel Development Association (SASSDA) and of the South Africa Iron and Steel Institute. Dr Kevin Bradley, Nickel Institute President said, “John’s in‐depth knowledge and understanding of the stainless steel industry makes him an ideal leader for the stainless steel association ISSF. As the Nickel Institute, we work closely with ISSF to support the use of stainless steel globally. I look forward to continuing this cooperation to help the industry meet the many challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”
