Motorola Solutions, Inc. and Psion will be showcasing their integrated range of solutions at this year's Enterprise Mobility Forum, to be held from 29 – 30 May at the Sandton Sun in Johannesburg. The Enterprise Mobility Forum brings together the technology leaders in enterprise mobility to debate, discuss and demonstrate how mobile technologies can drive efficiency in enterprises. Motorola Solutions acquired Psion in October last year for $200 million in cash. This has enabled Motorola Solutions to flesh out its mobile computing portfolio and gain deep expertise in the manufacturing, industrial and supply chain sectors where Psion has traditionally been very strong.

Key Points:
•         Warehouses and distribution centers are one of the most critical inflection points in an increasingly complex global supply chain. Enhanced productivity, worker safety and business growth all can be realized through mobile technology by automating, enhancing and streamlining processes.
•         The newly combined Motorola Solutions and Psion portfolio of products and solutions spans from Retail through Transport & Logistics, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Wholesale Trade, Petrochemical, Healthcare and Government.
•         Due to Psion's acquisition, Motorola now offers a new segment solution for enterprise mobile computing - powering field industrial line workers with WAN enabled devices for extreme outdoor environments.
•         Today Motorola Solutions with Psion offers complete end to end solutions for both knowledge workers and line workers – both indoors and outdoors.
Carlos Ferraz, General Manager for Motorola Solutions Africa – Enterprise

“Psion bolsters our strategic position in important industrial segments such as manufacturing and transportation and logistics, increases our cross-selling opportunities and expands our global enterprise solutions portfolio. From a South African perspective Psion's IP and talent has been retained. Psion had a large presence here and we have a much bigger combined company.” Ferraz emphasises that the company will not be pulling any of its product segments, but rather extending them now that the acquisition is complete. Michelle Hollis, Country Sales Director for Motorola Solutions S. Africa (previously country manager of Psion) says the companies' product and solutions sets and the markets they address are very complementary, with very little overlap. “And where we do overlap, this means that we have a bigger basket of products to offer our customers.”
