Company Announcement: De Grey Appoints Christoper van Thienhoven as Country Manager - Argentina

De Grey Mining Ltd is very pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher van Tienhoven as Country Manager - Argentina, effective 1st February 2013. Christopher has a Degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and has worked in the mining industry for over 21 years. The majority of this time was spent with the Anglo Group, operating around the world with stints in the UK, Chile, Brazil, Venezuela, South Africa and Argentina before culminating as Country Manager, General Manager and President of Anglo Gold Ashanti’s Cerro Vanguardia mine, the largest low sulphidation epithermal gold and silver operation in the Patagonia region of southern Argentina.

In 2008 Christopher accepted the position of Country Manager and Vice President – Argentina of Andean Resources, returning to his country of birth. Christopher managed the local community and government relations and led the company in Argentina and was instrumental in rationalising the operations post the 2008 financial crisis and thereafter ensuring Andean’s success in Argentina that ended with the Goldcorp takeover of Andean in December 2010 for C$3.6 billion.

Christopher brings with him to De Grey a wealth of experience and a degree of local knowledge and contacts that is unsurpassed in the mining industry in this region of South America. “De Grey has amassed a portfolio of projects within the highly prospective territory of the Deseado and Somoncura Massifs of the Patagonia region of Argentina that exhibit early signs of promise that influenced my decision to join the company” stated Christopher an Tienhoven. Executive Chairman Peter Batten commented “De Grey is fortunate to have secured the services of such a highly regarded professional as Christopher van Tienhoven. His expertise in our area of operations, his local knowledge and contact base will aid the company significantly in its campaign of exploration of its Argentinean projects”. Following an encouraging first phase drill programme at De Grey’s SM6 prospect in the Santa Cruz Province of Argentina completed in December a geophysical survey has been commissioned to further delineate targets within the prospect area commencing in the second week of February.
