Combined-cycle gas-turbine (CCGT) power station, Indiana, US.

Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL), a subsidiary of AES Corporation.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 650 MW CCGT power station near Martinsville, in Indiana.

In addition, two units at the Harding street generation station, totalling 200 MW, will be converted from coal to natural gas.

Value
IPL plans to spend $600-million on the CCGT and $36-million on the Harding street generation station.

Duration
The CCGT will start construction in the third quarter of this year and is expected to come on line in 2017. The conversion of Harding street Units 5 and 6 will start in 2015 and be completed in early 2016.

Latest Developments
AES has received approval from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for its request for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity, enabling IPL to invest an estimated $636-million in the project.
