A combi switchbox has recently been awarded Atmosphere Explosibles (ATEX) approval for use in Actuator Sensor- (AS-) Interface and DeviceNet fieldbus systems.

The combi switchbox is designed for a number of different industrial working environments and all common process landscapes. These include special requirements for areas of application in explosion protection such as ATEX, International Electrotechnical Commission Explosive (IECEx) and National Electric Code (NEC), for which it has the corresponding approvals.

In addition, the combi switchbox covers various electrical connection scenarios. This includes communication via IO-Link as well as integration in modern fieldbus systems such as AS-Interface or DeviceNet. Backward compatibility is guaranteed and the integration option with various AS-Interface profiles also enables retrofitting of older plants.

The GEMÜ 4242 combi switchbox is designed to be user friendly and microprocessor-controlled functions and intelligent, user-friendly programme routines aim to facilitate easy commissioning and servicing of the valves.

The GEMÜ Group develops and manufactures valves, measurement and control systems for liquids, vapours and gases. The group has six manufacturing locations in Germany, Switzerland, France, China, Brazil and the US and it is active in over 50 countries.

With the ATEX approval of the combi switchbox, the company is expanding its offer for use in explosive areas in a range of industrial operating environments and process landscapes.
