This article has been supplied.
Name and Location
Chunya gold project, Tanzania.
Project Description
A feasibility study completed on the Chunya project, in the Lupa goldfield, in southern Tanzania, supports a 360 000-t/y metallurgical process plant, which could produce an average of 28 400 oz/y of gold over an 11-year production life. A 50-t/h capacity plant, consisting of crushing and screening, comminution, conventional carbon-in-leach and smelting, is forecast to achieve an 89% recovery in doré bars.
Value
$23,1-million. There is an opportunity to double the mine's capacity for an additional $5-million in capital expenditure and the plant layout has been designed to accommodate such expansion.
Duration
Construction of the operation is expected to be completed within about nine months from start-up.
Client
Shanta Gold.
