Choose the right inverter for the most value and ROI – Valsa CEO advises
This article has been supplied.
The inverter is a critical component of the solar power solution, so it is essential to choose the correct type according to your energy needs, budget, and inverter capabilities. "Typically, customers follow the cost-conscious route when choosing a solar product. But there are many factors to consider that will impact your budget and energy needs," explains Svilen Voychev – CEO of Valsa Trading.
Choosing an inverter requires the customer to follow a due diligence process. Inverters, like all alternative energy solutions, are not a one-size-fits-all product. Instead, there are several types for varying energy needs, which will come in at different price points. "If your goal is to be completely off-grid, your site conditions, energy needs, load profile, financial capability, and desire to become energy independent will define what equipment you'll invest in," Vouchev says.
Customers must arrange an energy consultation with trained, experienced professionals to help define their needs and guide them towards the required products needed. "It is important that customers understand how they utilize energy in their home or business," says Voychev. He suggests that customers assess their energy needs, pointing out where they are wasting energy and how they can save costs by investing in, for example, an appropriate inverter solution. "There is no silver bullet when it comes to energy solutions. However, with proper due diligence, the installer can design a solution that will save you money and ensure you get a return on investment (ROI)," explained Voychev.
Solar solutions require a substantial initial investment. As a result, many customers supplement their energy needs in stages. However, Voychev advises: "When following a phased approach, it is critical customers understand their energy usage patterns and intentions to scale up in future. This knowledge will allow you to purchase the correct inverter that can scale up when your energy needs increase. Also, be mindful of the inverter's integration capability; you want to invest in reputable energy products that integrate well with other equipment in your solution."
For example, the Phocos inverters, which Valsa stocks, are scalable to the customer's needs, cost-effective, and flexible. The Phocos inverters can supply energy access to various applications, such as home use for backup energy during loadshedding; it can manage partial or complete demand depending on the product capability and type. "The Phocos range of electronic inverters is cost-effective and offers good value,” says Voychev.
Voychev also highlights the importance for installers to understand the various products in the market. "The installation process is important for both the customer and the installer. Always follow the manufacturer's installation requirements and instructions, irrespective of the product price and quality. Always choose professional and experienced installers to conduct the installation work. In doing so, you keep to the manufacturer warranty, meet insurance compliance requirements, and get the most value from your investment as the inverter is optimally installed," he concludes.
