naamsa, the Automotive Business Council, invites applications from exceptional and visionary leaders to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer. This high-profile position offers the opportunity to shape the future of an industry that is a key driver of South Africa’s GDP, exports, and employment. 

*THE ROLE* 

Reporting to the Board, the CEO will serve as the principal representative of the automotive industry, providing strategic leadership and driving policy engagement at the highest levels. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead engagement with government and policymakers on legislation, trade policy, and industry strategy 
• Drive the implementation of the South African Automotive Masterplan 2035 
• Align stakeholders across OEMs, importers, suppliers, labour, and government 
• Position South Africa as a globally competitive automotive manufacturing hub 
• Oversee industry data, research, and market intelligence 
• Act as the official spokesperson for the sector 
• Champion transformation, sustainability, and inclusive economic growth 

*THE IDEAL CANDIDATE*

• Senior executive experience within the automotive, manufacturing, or industrial sectors 
• Strong understanding of policy, trade, and regulatory frameworks 
• Proven ability to engage and influence at senior government and business levels 
• Demonstrated stakeholder management and consensus-building capability 
• Exceptional negotiation, leadership, and communication skills 
• High levels of integrity, credibility, and sound judgement 
• Commitment to transformation, sustainability, and national development
