Location
The Chelopech mine is located in central-western Bulgaria about 70 km east of Sofia, on the southern flank of the Balkan range.

Brief Description
The mine is situated in the northern part of the Panagyurishte mining district where several copper-bearing massive sulphide and porphyry copper deposits exist. The mining licence covers 266 ha, including the Chelopech mining operation and the immediate surrounds.

Brief History
The mine began operations in 1954, then part of several State-owned enterprises.

Dundee Precious Metals acquired the Chelopech mining operations in 2003.

Geology/Mineralisation
Chelopech is classified as a high-sulphidation type epithermal copper/gold deposit, located in the Panagyurishte mining district that also hosts other epithermal gold/copper deposits and porphyry copper/gold deposits such as Elatsite, Assarel and Medet. The geology of the district comprises a basement of Precambrian gneisses that is intruded by Palaeozoic granites and overlain by Late Cretaceous magmatic and sedimentary sequences.

Reserves
Total proven and probable minerals reserves as at December 31, 2021, were estimated at 19.3-million tonnes grading 2.72 g/t gold, 7.6 g/t silver and 0.8% copper.

Resources
Total measured and indicated resources as at December 31, 2021, were estimated at 13.8-million tonnes grading 2.84 g/t gold, 2.63 g/t silver and 0.89% copper.

Mining Method
Underground mining using sublevel long-hole open stoping methods.

Major Infrastructure and Equipment
Chelopech comprises the underground mine, processing plant, flotation, tailings management facility, ancillary workshops and administration facilities.

Prospects
An intensive drilling campaign is under way focused on the Sveta Petka commercial discovery, and at the Sharlo Dere and Petrovden porphyry prospects within the mine concession.
