CGG has completed field acquisition of the 282 sq mile Avalon 3D seismic survey in Reeves and Loving Counties, Texas.  Completed in 61 days, the high-end 400-fold broadband data establishes a new standard in high-end acquisition. Targeting the Bone Springs, Wolfcamp and Cline formations in one of North America’s most prolific basins, the newly acquired data is part of a CGG-proprietary solution that ties the geophysical data to the geology using a multi-disciplinary approach. This data optimization package comprises advanced imaging, reservoir characterization and microseismic monitoring.
Luc Schlumberger, Executive Vice President, Multi-Client & New Ventures said:  “The acquisition, which utilized Sercel’s UNITE wireless system in combination with our HPVA technique and the patented EmphaSeis low-frequency sweep, was a significant success and together with our advanced imaging technology will enable us to better address the noise and statics challenges typical to the area. Looking forward, we expect the data optimization package to deliver results that enhance sweet spot detection and improve hazard avoidance, thus enabling our clients to optimize well placement and completion design to increase their overall return on investment.”
