JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Dual-listed Centamin expects to produce 470 000 oz of gold at its Sukari mine, in Egypt, this year.

Cash operating costs for the year were expected to be about $680/oz and all-in-sustaining costs (AISC) about $900/oz – a decrease on the 2015 cash operating cost guidance of $700/oz and an AISC of $950/oz.

Preliminary gold production at the Sukari gold mine, in Egypt, increased 12% quarter-on-quarter to 117 644 oz for the three months to December 31.

This brought full-year production to 439 072 oz – a 16% increase on 2014 and within Centamin’s guidance of between 430 000 oz and 440 000 oz.

“During the fourth quarter, the Sukari operation reached its target production rate of 450 000 oz to 500 000 oz of gold a year. This significant milestone provides a solid platform for additional productivity increases as the various areas of the expanded Sukari operation continue to be optimised,” CEO Andrew Pardey said on Thursday.
