JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) has reserved its decision on the consolidation of the gold wage negotiation conciliation process.

The Chamber of Mines (CoM), on behalf of gold producers, applied for the consolidation of referrals of disputes between the CoM and the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union, the National Union of Mineworkers, Solidarity and UASA.

“We . . . will engage constructively and meaningfully with the unions to reach a wage agreement that ensures the sustainability of the industry,” said CoM chief negotiator Dr Elize Strydom on Thursday.

The conciliation process was expected to start on September 14.
