TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Toronto-listed Canada Lithium on Friday announced that VP for finance Halina McGregor has been appointed CFO to replace Germaine Coombs, who served as CFO during the company's transitional phase from exploration company to mine developer.

McGregor, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and l'Ordre des CPA du Québec, was formerly VP of finance and CFO with significant  companies such as Goldcorp and Sherritt International.

Canada Lithium also said it was actively working with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) to complete the CSA's inspection of the Quebec Lithium project's process-plant kiln, after an inspection scheduled for this week was postponed. The inspection, which is needed before the kiln would be allowed to produce lithium carbonate, was now expected to take place next week.

The company said before the on-site inspection took place, the company expected to test the process control programmes of the kiln, during which conversion of spodumene would take place.

Meanwhile, Canada Lithium's tailings management facility (TMF) geotechnical consultant Golder Associates, had submitted a remedial action plan to the Ministère du Développement durable, de l'Environnement de la Faune et des Parcs (MDDEFP) for repairs to be made to the plant's TMF, after water was found seeping from the facility on March 20.

The company had received initial comments on the plan, and once this plan was approved, remediation would start.

Canada Lithium expected the remediation work could be completed within ten days of MDDEFP approval without affecting plant commissioning.
