Project Description
The project will enable the Port of Calais to double its current capacity of ten-million passengers, two-million heavy goods vehicles and 41.5-million tonnes of cargo each year.
The project entails:
• the creation of a new 3 km seawall, along with a new 100 ha harbour basin to the north of the current facilities;
• the construction of three new ferry berths and a roll-on/roll-off berth inside the harbour basin;
• four-million cubic metres of marine dredging to constitute the new quays; and
• the development of new cross-channel traffic reception capacities, including 44 ha of parking facilities and roads, as well as an estimated 20 operational and reception buildings.
Jobs to be Created
The project will create 2 000 direct and indirect jobs.

€863-million.
Duration
The project is expected to take six years to complete.
Latest Developments
The first stone of the Calais Port 2015 project was laid in September 2016.
This work is being undertaken by a consortium comprising specialised entities of the Bouygues group, Spie Batignolles and Jan de Nul.
