As part of a recently approved ten-year plan for State-owned Airports Company South Africa (Acsa), Cabinet this week approved the appointment of acting MD Bongani Maseko as the group’s permanent MD.

He was appointed acting MD in 2011 after Monhla Hlahla stepped down.

Maseko, who has been with Acsa since 1999, had previously occupied the position of group executive of airport operations, which saw him supervising the daily operations at all of the company’s airports.

Prior to this, he was the GM of OR Tambo International Airport, in Johannesburg.

Maseko has a degree in Aviation Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, in the US, where his studies focused on airport and airline management, after which he continued his studies in Airport Systems Planning and Design and Airport Ground Transportation Planning at the University of California.

He also gained experience at San Francisco International Airport in the US, where he worked in various positions for eight years.

The airport management agency added that it had also appointed South African Forestry Company executive financial director and former CEO Maureen Manyama-Matome as its financial director.
