In May, Sibur signed a contract with China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) to establish a joint venture (JV) for the construction of the butadiene nitrile rubber plant. Sinopec’s share in the JV will be 74.9% and Sibur’s 25.1%.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 50 000 t/y butadiene nitrile rubber plant at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, 50 km south of Shanghai. Butadine nitrile rubber is essential in the manufacture of aircraft fuel tank seals, fuelling hoses, bag fuel tanks and aircraft window seals.
