Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 1 358 MW, natural-gas-fuelled power station near Lawrenceville, in Brunswick County.
The combined-cycle, natural-gas-fired power station will serve growing customer demand and replace electricity from ageing coal-fired power stations that are being retired for economic and environmental reasons.
The transmission facilities include an estimated 21-km-long 500 kV transmission line that will connect the station to an existing transmission line.

The total cost of the station is $1.3-billion.

Commercial service is expected to begin in 2016.
Latest Developments
Dominion received permission from the Virginia State Corporation Commission to build the power station at the beginning of August.
Dominion plans to start construction immediately.
The commission also approved a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for transmission interconnection facilities needed to connect the station to the gird and a rate adjustment clause, Rider BW, which will enable the company to recover the costs of the project.
