Name of the Mine
Borden mine.

Location
About 20 km east of Chapleau, in Ontario’s Sudbury District, Canada.

Mine Owner/s
North American precious metals company Discovery Silver.

Brief Description
Borden is a ramp-access underground gold mine with an estimated eight-year operating life, based on current mineral resources, with potential to increase production and extend mine life through ongoing optimisation and exploration.

Brief History
Commercial production started in 2019.

Primary Metals/Minerals
Gold.

Secondary Metals/Minerals
None reported.

Geology/Mineralisation
Borden is an orogenic gold deposit metamorphosed to upper amphibolite grade and situated on the lower limb of an antiform within the Borden Lake Greenstone Belt. Gold is mostly free-milling and occurs with pyrite-yrrhotite mineralisation in grey, glassy quartz veins; visible gold is generally uncommon, though occasional 1 mm to 2 mm grains have been observed.

Reserves
Not disclosed.

Resources
As at January 13, 2025, measured and indicated resources totalled 3.75-million tonnes grading 6.16 g/t gold, with inferred resources of 1.37-million tonnes grading 5.22 g/t gold.

Type of Mine
Underground mine.

Mining Method
Longhole stoping with unconsolidated and cemented rock fill. Ore is trucked to surface and hauled about 190 km to the Dome mill.

Major Infrastructure/Equipment
Key infrastructure includes portal and ramp access; a low-grade stockpile; a cement slurry plant for backfill; ventilation and emergency egress; surface and underground water supply and distribution systems; electrical and maintenance workshops; warehouse; administration, safety and training facilities; fuel offloading and storage; exploration and core analysis facilities; laydown and storage areas; and surface water management systems, including an underground dewatering pond. Power is supplied by a 6 km, 25 kV distribution line from a transformer station near Chapleau, connected to Hydro One’s transmission system though a 115 kV line.

Prospects
The operation is considered to have strong exploration upside near mine and regionally. Current producing zones remain open at depth and along strike to the east and west, and several nearby prospects have seen limited or no drilling.
