The project involves the supply of signalling equipment for the 240-km-long Beni Suef-Asyut line, in Egypt.

Value
The contract is valued at €100-million.

Duration
Delivery will start in 2016 and the system is due to be operational by January 2019.

Latest Developments
Alstom has been awarded a contract by ENR to supply signalling equipment to the Beni Suef-Asyut line.

The contract also includes maintenance for five years.

Alstom will provide its new electronic interlocking system to replace the existing electromechanical system, as well as trackside equipment, a power supply and a telecommunication system.

The company’s solution will ensure safety for passengers, while increasing the number of trains in circulation on the network by more than 80%.
