JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed coal producer Beacon Hill Resources reported on Monday that the group was on track to commission its upgraded Minas Moatize wash plant this month.

The $6-million Phase 2A expansion increased the mine’s wash plant capacity from 600 000 t/y to 1.8-million tons a year of run-of-mine (RoM) coal.

This represented a 150 000 t/m capacity.

The wash plant underwent cold commissioning in South Africa before being transported to site in Tete province.

The $3.5-million Phase 2B and $6.5-million Phase 2C expansions would increase coking coal yield by 4% by the second quarter of 2013 and increase plant capacity to 2.8-million tons a year RoM coal by the fourth quarter of 2013 respectively.
