TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – The world’s largest gold producer Barrick Gold on Thursday said a shipment of gold from its Pueblo Viejo mine, was detained by customs authorities in the Dominican Republic.

The company said it was investigating the cause of the delay and had provided customs with additional information.

Barrick, which holds a 60% interest in the Pueblo Viejo mine, with Goldcorp holding the other 40% interest, said it was seeking confirmation that the shipment could resume.
