Nonprofit organisation Business Against Crime South Africa (Bacsa) has named former Alexander Forbes CEO Peter Moyo the successor of outgoing chairperson Yedwa Simelane, who announced her resignation at the end of July after serving as chairperson for over two years.

Moyo, who had taken up the position from November 1, was currently group CEO and shareholder of investment firm Amabubesi Group, as well as chairperson for the boards of the Vodacom Group, brokerage firm Willis SA and Internet technology firm CSC SA.

A member of the audit committee of the Office of the Auditor General, Moyo had previously served as nonexecutive director on the board of Transnet, chaired the board of trustees of Transnet Second Defined Benefits Fund and served on Transnet’s risk and audit committees, which he also chaired.

He had also previously served on the board of Telkom.

Bacsa CEO Simi Pillay-van Graan said she was confident that Moyo would support the organisation’s recently defined strategic direction, which focused on eradicating crime at its root.

“With the appointment of Peter Moyo to our accomplished board, I am confident that the organisation is well positioned to continue to mobilise business and government to combat crime,” she commented.
