PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The New South Wales Department of Planning has approved ASX-listed Aurelia Metals’ plans to modify its existing Hera project approval.

The approval would allow Aurelia to increase the mine's yearly production from 355 000 t to 505 000 t of gold, lead and zinc, while extending the mine life by two years to 2022.

The approval included the construction of an additional waste rock emplacement to the north of the existing Hera project, and an additional hardstand area for a laydown yard, and an expansion of the approved run-of-mine pad.

Aurelia told shareholders on Monday that despite the expansion approval, the company had not yet made a final decision regarding the expansion.

It was estimated that about A$16.8-million in capital would be needed to realise the initial process improvements and to deliver the expansion.
