PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior metals producer Aurelia Metals has formally opened its Hera mine, in New South Wales, some two months after the first gold was poured.

The flagship project consists of the high-grade underground Hera gold/lead/zinc/silver mine and the Nymagee copper deposit. Hera is expected to produce around 390 000 oz over a minimum life-of-mine of 7.3 years.

The project poured its first gold/silver dore in September this year.

Aurelia was currently in the final plant commissioning stages, and was also evaluating the Nymagee copper deposit with a view to demonstrating an integrated development of the Hera and Nymagee deposits.

Meanwhile, Aurelia on Thursday also reported the completion of the first shipment of 5 734 t of zinc/lead concentrate from the Hera mine. The concentrate would be sold to Aurelia’s offtake partner Glencore.

Concentrate shipping was scheduled to take place every six weeks.
