PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Coal explorer Attila Resources has declared a maiden Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of 48.3-million tonnes at its Seymour property, which forms part of the Kodiak coking coal project, in the US.

Attila said on Tuesday that the resource estimate was based on the results of a two-hole diamond core drilling and sampling programme conducted in 2013, as well as historic data.

“We are very pleased to see the inferred resource exceeding our exploration target. This increases Attila’s global resource inventory to over 126-million tonnes of high-quality hard coking coal,” said Attila executive director Evan Cranston.

He noted that in addition, the maiden resource at Seymour provided confidence in the potential for these assets to expand Attila’s future production profile, with only a modest incremental capital expenditure, given the close proximity to the existing infrastructure.
