Name and Location
Atlantic Array project, Bristol Channel Zone, England.

Client
RWE Innogy.

Project Description
Developer RWE Innogy has terminated the Atlantic Array project after reviewing the project and the Round 3 Bristol Channel Zone.

In comparison with other opportunities in the UK offshore wind portfolio, and in light of the significant technical challenges specific to the zone, identified through intensive research at the time, it was not considered viable for RWE to continue with development in the Bristol Channel Zone.

The proposed 200 km2, 240-turbine Atlantic Array, located about 16.5 km from the north Devon coast, 22.5 km from the south Wales coast and 13.5 km from the Lundy Island nature reserve, would have been 220 m tall and capable of producing 1 200 MW of electricity – enough to power 900 000 homes.
