Project Description
The project involves the conversion of the Assiut and West Damietta natural gas-fired power plants from simple to combined-cycle power plants. The conversion will improve efficiency and is expected to increase capacity by about 50% with no additional fuel intake, leading to a lower cost of operation.

The projects will reduce the power plants’ environmental impact, particularly carbon and nitrogen oxide emissions by 32%.

An Orascom Construction-General Electric consortium will convert the power plants from natural gas to natural gas-fired plants on an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) and finance basis, whereby the consortium arranges a financing package on behalf of the client and borrower.
